A church is a group of people . . . ever growing and changing day by day. That is what you will meet as you come into our midst. Today's group and how we behave is very important. Still, as a community of faith, we have an inscribed Statement of Faith and roots in a history.
Port Colborne Baptist Church was founded in 1857 and worshiped in the Union Chapel which was shared by several other denominations in Port Colborne. In 1874, thanks to an endowment from Lewis Carter, the Port Colborne Baptist Church moved into their own building at the northwest corner of Catherine and Charlotte Streets where they worshiped until 1968. The current church on Ridgewood Avenue was built in 1967 to better meet the needs of the congregation and widen the scope of programs offered by the church.
Port Colborne Baptist Church is a member of the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec and the
Niagara – Hamilton Association of Baptist Churches and the Baptist World Alliance.
This year, 2020, marks the 163rd anniversary of Port Colborne Baptist Church.
