Our Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour; and on the profession of our faith in Jesus Christ, having been baptised in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We covenant therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love.

We covenant to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and godly living.

We covenant to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We purpose to seek a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ through regular personal prayer and Bible study, through faithful worship together, and through family and private devotions.

We also purpose to educate our children in the teachings and practice of our Christian faith and to seek the salvation of our families and acquaintances; to practice temperance and to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.

We further engage to watch over one another in Christian love, to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress, to cultivate Christian sympathy, to be slow to take offence, always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the admonition of Jesus Christ, to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage, that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with another Christian fellowship in which church community we can carry out the spirit of this covenant as disciples of Jesus Christ.

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?

(Hymn by John Rippon, 17849)

"You are standing today all of you before the LORD your God . . .
so that you may enter into the sworn covenant of the LORD your God,
which the LORD your God is making with you today,
that He may establish you today as his people,
and that He may be your God, as He promised you . . ."

(Deuteronomy 29v10, 12-13)

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?
